ASPCA PET OF THE WEEK: CHARLIE IN CHARGE
But Charlie, what pointy ears you have! Yes, this loveable one-year-old pit bull mix sure has some swell ears—not to mention a beautiful spotted brindle coat. Of course, we don’t love him for his looks alone. “He bounces around like a pogo stick!” says Victoria Wells, ASPCA Manager of Shelter Behavior and Training.
Charlie is a bundle of energy—and he’s looking for an adopter to help him channel it. “He’s very social, but he tends to chew on hands and clothing when he’s excited,” Wells explains. He’ll need a basic manners course, and an experienced adopter who loves to train. He’d be more comfortable with older children (ages 12 and up).
If you’re interested in adopting Charlie (and getting a whole lot of exercise!), please call the ASPCA Animal Placement department at (212) 876-7700, ext. 4120.

DOG TIP
If your dog has been diagnosed with fleas, be sure to treat the environment.
Eggs, larvae and pupae are in your home hiding in carpeting and upholstery.
Carefully vacuum carpets, sofas, baseboards and under furniture. Discard the
vacuum bag immediately and mop floors with soapy water. Clean basement and garage floors and replace or wash all pet bedding.
CAT TIP
Have you ever wondered how much catnip to give to your cat? Actually, a little bit goes a long way. If you sprinkle 1/2 tsp on a towel that should be enough to make your kitty very happy.
