Happy Tail:
A Piggy Tale
From Melissa V. of Battle Creek, MI:
I believe that sometimes we don't choose our pets but rather they choose us. Ms. Piggy chose our family, and I couldn't be happier. It all started when a friend of mine told me she wanted to adopt a guinea pig from a rescue or shelter. I went to Petfinder intending to help my friend search for her new guinea pig. I did not plan to add a guinea pig to our home. Little did I know what would happen next. First I was very surprised to see how many guinea pigs were out there in shelters or rescues looking for homes. Read the full story.

*DOG TIP*
Did you know that there is now a drug available that allows surgery-free neutering of male puppies? Neutersol is a compound which, when injected into a puppy's testicles, causes permanent sterilization. It will, however, not completely halt testosterone production and thus do nothing to halt behavioral issues such as mounting, marking, roaming or territoriality.
*CAT TIP*
Because the ears are a primary collecting point of dirt and debris, it is important to check your cat's ears once every other week. If your cat's ears need cleaning, use a cotton swab dipped in baby oil or another product suggested by your veterinarian. Remember to be gentle and never go deeper into the canal than you can see. It is a good idea to ask your veterinarian for a demonstration on how to properly and safely clean your cat's ears.
